Former Sandpoint football standout Tyler Harris, pictured next to father Jeremy Harris, recently concluded spring football at Idaho State University. The 6-2, 215 pound sophomore outside linebacker, who sat two years before becoming the Defensive MVP last season for the Lewis Clark Loggers, is hoping to earn some playing time next fall at the inside “Will” linebacker spot, as well as on special teams. “I was getting some reps with the twos. I think this next fall I’ll be looking to get some time in on special teams. That was my focus, show that I’m a decent athlete and I belong on the field somewhere,” said Harris of spring practice, noting the jump to the Big Sky is a big one. “Definitely a lot faster, guys are pretty strong. It’s fun, it’s awesome.” Harris said he’s looking forward to the game next year against the Vandals, and former teammates Kyle Perry and Carlos Collado. Satini Puailoa, Harris’ coach at Sandpoint, said things didn’t work out as he was originally set to play for College of Idaho. “He came back home and said ‘coach I miss playing, what do I do?’” recalled Puailoa. “He played at Lewis-Clark, got himself back on film, and is now a preferred walk-on at Idaho State. He’ll adjust, he’s athletic as heck.”
