The Idaho Inn at Coolin is pictured in this 1918 photo. A popular resort at the south end of Priest Lake, Coolin was named for Andy Coolin, the first white man to settle there. In the early 1920s, Nell Shipman, a Hollywood silent screen actress, built the Lionhead Lodge on the upper eastern shore of Priest Lake. One of the films, a full-length feature called “The Grub Stake” was filmed at Priest Lake, near Tiger in Pend Oreille County, Washington, and in Spokane, Washington.…
