On June 20, the Community Assistance League held a celebration of giving at the University of Idaho Sandpoint Organic Agricultural Center on North Boyer. Over 80 people attended the grant and scholarship award ceremony during which over $150,000 was distributed to worthy students and community organizations. Firewood Rescue, represented by founder Paul Krames received a $3,400 check from the grant committee headed by Jan Harrison, chair. The funds will be used to purchase much-needed equipment including a hydraulic splitter, utility trailer and small shed to house some equipment. A 501(c)3, Firewood Rescue has been providing emergency supplies of firewood for over four years to individuals and families in dire need due to circumstances beyond their control.
