Bulldogs hold off Homedale for Homecoming win

SHS takes home the W despite strong showing by Trojans in second half

SANDPOINT - As the Victory Bell on War Memorial Field rang following Sandpoint’s win over the Homedale Trojans Friday night, Coach Ryan Knowles breathed a sigh of relief and admitted that the end of the Bulldogs’ homecoming game was a little too close for comfort. “Very scary!” he said of the last-minute push by the visiting team. “But we have to give ourselves credit because we found a way to get it done.” Giving a packed homecoming crowd one heck of a show, a strong early game performance by the Bulldogs proved to be enough for a 28-21 win. “I’m really happy with the way we came out and jumped on them early,” Knowles said. “That’s a good team that had to travel and that’s how that works out to that (early) 14-0 run.”
