Sandpoint Albion SC's 2013/2014 boys are atop the Washington Premier League after defeating longtime rival Washington East Premier Surf 2013, 4-3, this past weekend. The boys now hold a 6-1 overall record. "We have a strong three-year rivalry with Surf Premier," Albion coach Eric Donenfeld said. "Every game is intense and close. The boys earned every bit of this thriller." Felix Carlson scored a goal during the fourth and 27th minutes to put Sandpoint Albion up 2-1 at halftime. Chris Medrano, fighting through an injury, found the upper left corner during the 45th minute to give Albion a 3-2 lead. During the 56th minute, with the game tied 3-3, Garrison Markwardt sent a cross to Jacob Moren, who caught the underside of the crossbar for the winning goal. Donenfeld said it was the team's best game of the season. Pictured, are both teams, memorializing three years of friendship. The two teams routinely collaborate and share players for events and friendlies.
