This past winter, Bonners Ferry High twin sisters Avery and Braylyn Bayer both signed to play collegiate golf for different Big Sky Conference programs. Avery signed to play for Idaho State University while Braylyn signed to play for Weber State University. The two helped lead the Badgers to two 3A state titles (2021 and 2023) and two state runner-up finishes (2022 and 2024). Every single year since their freshman years, the duo has placed among the top five at the 3A state tournament. Braylyn finished her career with two 3A individual state titles (2023 and 2024). Avery’s top finish was in 2023, where she placed third at the state tournament. As for the 3A Intermountain League, the pair have led the Badgers to four straight district titles, finishing 1-2 every single year — Braylyn is a three-time district champion, Avery a one-time district champion. Braylyn is a three-time 3A-1A North Idaho Girls Golf Athlete of the year… Avery was also nominated for the award all three years. The twins have been coached by PGA Pro Billy Bomar since they were eight years old. Follow these athletes' careers in the Daily Bee College Notebook, which is published in both the Bee and the Herald.
