Little sets school buildings, water infrastructure and transportation as top priorities
Idaho Gov. Brad Little has unveiled a plan to boost Idaho's education, water and transportation infrastructure during his annual "State of the State" address. Little presented his proposal to lawmakers gathered at the Statehouse for the first day of the legislative session Monday. He says too many of Idaho's school buildings are neglected and falling apart, and said a $2 billion investment in school facilities over 10 years would serve as a form of long-term property tax relief. Idaho's school facilities are largely funded through property taxes, and districts often must ask voters to approve levies to fix leaky roofs or otherwise improve buildings. Little also proposed funding to improve transportation and boost water capacity during drought.

The virtue most needed in upcoming session
Each winter as the Christmas rush settles down and the new year is just around the corner, many of us begin to think about New Year’s resolutions. My thoughts also turn toward the coming legislative session. January is a time of renewed optimism and new resolve, as I anticipate how I can work with other legislators to keep Idaho moving forward.
