Idaho’s AG must act with civility toward the judiciary

Idaho lawyers are expected to act with respect, dignity, and candor toward judges and the court system. They are presumed to understand that a “correct” interpretation of the law is often uncertain. Judges have the job of deciding the law in cases brought before them. Most often, one litigant wins and the other loses. If every loser’s lawyer made unfounded public utterances against the presiding judge, it would be extremely corrosive of the rule of law.

As exemption rates rise, health officials push to get youth vaccinated

Parents are opting out of school vaccinations at the highest rate ever. Last school year, that amounted to 3% of U.S. children entering kindergarten. The highest rate was 12% in Idaho, where a change in state law a few years ago made it easier to opt out. All states require students to have certain vaccines to attend public school, and often private school and daycare. Exemptions are given for medical reasons, and sometimes for religious beliefs or personal reasons. Most states saw an increase in exemption rates last year.
