State superintendent Debbie Critchfield and two lawmakers Friday unveiled a late-session proposal to shift a small portion of the K-12 school budget to “per-student” funding. The bill would use student counts rather than support units as a metric for calculating discretionary funds, potentially adding $50 million to the annual allocation. Other areas of the school budget would continue to use support units.

It was 40 or so years ago that Dick Bradetich and Mike Wolcott walked into Bill Love's office at the Idaho Department of Lands in Sandpoint. The pair, Love recounts, wanted to let him know about their new forestry consultation business. Now, Inland Forest Management officials are letting the community know about a new change in the company with the sale of IFM to Georgia-based F&W Forestry Services.

May’s election will feature a packed ballot as numerous Bonner County residents filed for candidacy before the filing period closed at 5 p.m. Friday. The primary election — which will be held May 21 — will include races for U.S. representatives, state legislators, judicial offices, and county races.
