NOTICE OF APPLICATION

Pursuant to Section 58-104(g) and 58-1301, et seq., Idaho Code (The Lake Protection Act) and rules of the State Board of Land Commissioners, notice is hereby given that Pend Oreille Bonner Development, LLC, Attn. Chuck Reeves of 151 Clubhouse Way - Sandpoint, ID 83864 made application to construct a 126 slip community dock facility, restore the shoreline to original configuration and eliminate an old boat basin which will consist of excavation and filling, construct a 250' fixed breakwater and reconstruct the outlet of Trestle Creek to improve fish passage. The facility will be known as the Idaho Club - Lakeside. Located on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho adjacent to: Section 21, Township 57 North, Range 1 East; B.M., in Bonner County.

AARP hosting McGrane for telephone town hall

Voter access, voter identification, and ballot issues continue to make headlines in Idaho. As such, Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane will join AARP Idaho for a statewide telephone town hall on April 4 at noon MT to discuss these issues as well as other topics important to older Idahoans. AARP Idaho state director Lupe Wissel will moderate the call. All Idahoans are encouraged to participate in the town hall and ask questions.

BOISE (AP) — Idaho doesn’t need to change trapping regulations where federally protected Canada lynx are likely to be caught in traps set for bobcats, a federal court said in a decision that reversed its earlier ruling.

28 Idaho lawmakers oppose Boise State diversity programs

IDAHO FALLS (AP) — A group of 28 Idaho Republican lawmakers have sent a letter to Boise State University criticizing the school’s efforts to address gender-based violence, aid underrepresented minority students and to avoid bias in hiring decisions because the lawmakers say those and other programs increase tuition costs and go against the “Idaho way.”

Will families or government prevail on taxes?

The governor’s State of the State Address the first week of session consisted of what I would describe as the Governor’s “Spend and Spend Some More Plan.” The bottom line was a 9.2-percent increase in new state spending. Our legislative response was to pass House Bill 335 (HB335), a tax relief for businesses on the unemployment taxes they pay. This bill is expected to save around $115 million for employers over the next three years. Many conservative legislators have their sights set on additional legislation offering even more tax relief for all citizens. With an approximate $300 million surplus, there are multiple combinations of a grocery-corporate-individual tax package that could benefit the entire state with tax relief instead of only few select groups.

Little pushes broadband improvements to rural communities
