During their summer meeting, the Idaho State GOP adopted Rule XX, which states: "The Idaho Republican Party is a private organization dedicated to the promotion of certain political ideals." Additionally, it provides a tool to call elected officials to answer alleged violations of the GOP platform to their local county central committee.

Money doesn’t grow on trees or empty fields. There are two ways local governments generate revenue, taxes or fees for service. The proposed Bonner County Fairground RV campground expansion is the latter. Campground visitors would generate revenue that could be used for upkeep and maintenance of the fairgrounds, avoiding tax increases and improving the facilities for all of Bonner County.
History outlines origins of Bonner County Fairgrounds
The first Bonner County Fair was held in 1927 at the original fairgrounds at War Memorial Park. Twenty communities were represented, and it was sponsored by Bonner County and the Sandpoint Kiwanis Club. The first fair board was formed in 1930; some of the family names from these early years, such as Albertson, Anselmo, Culver, and McNall, as well as organizations such as the Bonner County Sportsmen Association and Kiwanis, remain involved with the fair today. This is the third in a series of articles intended to inform residents of Bonner County about issues affecting local government.
