Successful post season leaves players looking to next year
With the season finally over, kids from all the baseball leagues are headed to City Beach, or vacation, or jobs, or preparation for the next sport. But before we close the Babe Ruth chapter it seems appropriate to wrap up what happened in the post season and highlight key performances.
Little pushes for career training grants, teacher raises
Idaho Gov. Brad Little said Friday he is continuing to negotiate with legislators around his top 2023 priorities, including the Idaho Launch grant program for high school graduates, pay raises for teachers, property tax reduction and increased funding for law enforcement salaries. Through the first 47 days in session with a new-look Idaho Legislature that experienced significant turnover after 2022, Little said he has only signed five bills and there weren’t any more waiting for him as of Thursday night.
Idaho celebrates nonprofits next month
In just over a week, donors can easily search for causes and organizations they’re passionate about on IdahoGives.org. The state’s largest online fundraising event, Idaho Gives, will take place in one week and begins on May 1–4.

Idaho to distribute opioid overdose reversal drug
Idaho is re-activating a program to distribute Narcan, a brand of the opioid reversal drug naloxone. Idaho organizations can now request naloxone through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s program by completing online request forms through the Division of Behavioral Health or the Drug Overdose Prevention Program, according to a news release Monday. Organizations can request two free nasal spray kits of Narcan and training kits, the release said.

The issue involves the Quality Education Act, which organizers from the nonprofit group Reclaim Idaho successfully qualified for the Nov. 8 general election after gathering voters’ signatures across the state. The initiative will likely appear on the ballot as Proposition 1.

Following the longest floor debate of the year on Monday, a divided Idaho House of Representatives narrowly passed a bill that would provide $8,500 workforce training grants to Idaho high school graduates to put toward career training. Legislators spent more than two hours debating House Bill 24 straight through their lunch hour before voting 36-34 to pass the bill. Had just one of the 70 members of the Idaho House changed their yes vote to a no, the bill would have failed on a tie vote.
