Show support for PFLAG, attend film

Many years ago when my daughter "came out" as a lesbian I went into my own closet and needed help in learning how to respond to family and friends. With the support of PFLAG — Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays — I learned to deal with my emotions and to celebrate her "difference" as a learning experience that helped me to a greater acceptance of and love for all of God's children. I loved and accepted her as the same beautiful person she was before I had this new information. I learned not to judge others and that my fear of rejection by my peers was nothing more than my own fear. I still have, however, a concern for her safety and for the safety of all persons who are marginalized and hated by some in our society.
