Urban renewal wrong needs to be righted

Nary a coo concerning the plight or "blight" of all the homeless pigeons that were displaced by the nullifying of the Panhandle Milling building. Certainly after occupying residency for a century, they had established a prescriptive easement or at very least, roosting rights.

Ogilvie has passion for city of Sandpoint

Francis Ogilvie deserves another term as city councilman. He has devoted years to the city and his goals has been to keep Sandpoint a desirable place in which to live. He is passionate about maintaining the charm and "small town" atmosphere of Sandpoint, but at the same time realizes that change is inevitable and makes informed decisions by thoroughly studying the issues and researching the options. If you want someone on the city council who will look out for the interests of its citizens, vote for Francis Ogilvie.

Trio's commitment deserves support

For the past several years I have been involved in several projects and organizations that are committed to improving the economic and cultural opportunities within Sandpoint and the surrounding areas. At each of these meetings Cindy Elliott, Frances Ogilvie and Steve Lockwood have demonstrated their commitment to the residents of Sandpoint, and while I have not always agreed with their positions, they are willing to listen. I respect their passion to try and make Sandpoint a town for all residents to be proud of now and for the future.

She was clear headed in her thinking and effective in her leadership. The result: better sidewalks, safer streets, and an ever prouder Sandpoint.

Why is money more important than family?

While reading the article titled "Idaho's children face economic, academic challenges" (Sept. 23), I found it very upsetting that this article could make reference to the fact that leaving your family for a career would be a good thing. It stated that 11.5 percent of all males age 18-24 in Idaho live with their own kids versus 7 percent nationwide. Also, that 25 percent of women age 18-24 in Idaho live with their own kids versus 20 percent nationwide.
